In our recent webinar, Justin Gardner discussed a range of functions related to Workforce management, focusing on highlighting features available to all Workbench licensed users.
Standard Costing: We touched on the topic of how standard costing is used to allocate labour costs to jobs. Employee classes are used to define job cost rates, with the option of including additional costs like allowances, superannuation, payroll tax etc. Regularly reviewing these rates and exporting the Labour Recovery Journal to your GL to compare with actual labour costs is encouraged.
Timesheet Options: Various timesheet entry methods were discussed, such as desktop, mobile, daysheets, and the Upvise app, highlighting the flexibility in capturing employee hours. The complexity of timesheets is acknowledged, with different options depending on the business type and role of the worker.
Payroll Integration and Award Interpretation: The meeting covered the integration of timesheets with payroll, including the ability to interpret industry awards and enterprise agreements, ensuring accurate pay calculations based on employee hours and allowances. And significant time savings for Payroll staff.
Leave Management: The process of managing employee leave, from request, submission to approval, was outlined, with the ability to auto-generate timesheet lines for approved leave.
Resource Scheduling: The system's resource scheduling capability allows for scheduling employees and equipment to specific jobs. A discussion ensued on the importance of aligning scheduled hours with job budgets.
Expense Claims: The expense claims functionality was highlighted, showing how employees can log expenses for reimbursement, with options to link to company credit cards for tracking and reconciliation.
The meeting also discussed future developments and sought customer feedback on priorities such as resource scheduling and staff skills tracking.
